On 29 September 2016, the Administration Council for Independent Luxembourgish Audio-visual Authority (ALIA) named TopStar Radio the second best transmission network in Luxembourg.

Other finalists considered included AirFM 24 and 7FM. All of the candidates had the opportunity to present and defend their projects through auditions held by ALIA on 26 September 2016.
ALIA did not set any strict conditions concerning the nominations apart from legal requirements in regard to content. It came to the conclusion that all of the candidates were equally coherent and had their own personal merits.

In the end, TopStar Radio won as a result of its strategic approach, editorial content, use of a diverse range of audio-based media, its use of German as its main language, its musical tone and experience. All of the above convinced members of the Administration Council that the proposed programme could enrich the selection of radio stations available in Luxembourg. The judges decided unanimously to award TopStar Radio the second position.

Currently, TopStar Radio’s project has two associates: René Porwoll, who has collaborated with private radio stations in Germany and France for 25 years, and NanoComp GmbH, which is an active organisation on the German radio scene. Wilfried Eckel will act as manager of the programmes.
