Whilst the United Nation’s UNAIDS programme announced a decrease of 35% in new HIV cases beween 2000 and 2015, the figures for Luxembourg were less positive.

In 2015, the Monitoring Committee for AIDS (Comité de surveillance du SIDA) recorded 94 new cases of HIV infections. This is a slight decrease compared to the 96 cases in 2014.

67 of the cases found in 2015 were men, while the other 27 were women. The most affected age group was that of 26-35 year olds with 35 cases, followed by 36-44 year olds with 22 cases recorded. In 2015, seven people died in Luxembourg as a result of this infectious disease.
