This Saturday 18 February 2017, Her Royal Highness the Hereditary Grand Duchess of Luxembourg will celebrate her 33rd birthday.

This weekend marks 33 years since the birth of the Hereditary Grand Duchess, the Countess Stéphanie de Lannoy.

Countess Stéphanie de Lannoy was born in Renaix, Belgium on 18 February 1984, the eighth and youngest child of Count de Lannoy and and the late Countess de Lannoy. She grew up on the family estate in Anvaing, Hainaut in Belgium with her siblings.

The Hereditary Grand Duchess began her education at Sancta Maria Primary School in Renaix before going on to study at the College Sainte-Odile in France and the Institut de la Vierge Fidelein Brussels, where she graduated in 2002. She later obtained a degree with high distinction in German Studies at the Université Catholique de Louvain, during which she spent one year studying in Berlin.

After having extended her stay in Berlin with an internship at the Walloon Export Agency, Countess Stéphanie worked for an investment company in Brussels.

In terms of commitments, the Hereditary Grand Duchess has been Chairperson of the Board of the MUDAM since January last year and has granted her patronage to the associations “Les Amis des Musées d’Art et d’Histoire Luxembourg” and the "Scienteens Lab", which gives adolescents biomedical research experience. She is also a board member of the “Fondation du Grand-Duc et de la Grande-Duchesse”, which aims to help the most vulnerable in society.

Concerning leisure activities, Countess Stéphanie is passionate about classical music and foreign languages. As well as French, her mother tongue, she is fluent in Luxembourgish, German and English, and knows some Russian, having spent one year in Moscow at the age of 18.
