With the arrival of colder weather recently, Buderus Luxembourg has offered ten pieces of advice regarding better energy consumption.

Firstly, Buderus recommends closing shutters and curtains at night. This can save up to 15% of energy used by heating. Secondly, arrange regular meetings with professionals to check that the boiler is working correctly. As such, it is possible to save up to 5% of energy and prolong the life of one’s boiler. Thirdly, Buderus suggests that if radiators are not heating up correctly or are emitting sounds of air escaping, they should be bled. Fourthly, it is importance to avoid having curtains or furniture in front of the radiators.

Fifthly, when drying towels, use a dryer rather than a radiator. Another tip is to regularly air one’s home by opening the windows for around 15 minutes at least once a day. Moreover, it is advisable to lower the heating to around 16 degrees Celsius at night and lower it or even turn it off during a prolonged absence.

Whilst travelling, it is important to remember to put one’s heating appliance in holiday mode. Finally, Buderus recommends regulating the temperature in rooms according to their use, for instance 20-22 degrees Celsius in the living room and kitchen, but 17 to 18 degrees in bedrooms and corridors, as well as reminding the public that 1 degree less is equivalent to saving 6% of energy.
