On Saturday 27 June 2015, Banque Internationale à Luxembourg SA (BIL) held the 2nd edition of BILjobdating, a recruitment day designed in the innovative form of speed recruiting.

The event was attended by Ministre du Travail, de l'Emploi et de l'Economie Sociale et Solidaire, Nicolas Schmit; Directrice de l'Adem, Isabelle Schlesser; Coordinateur du Cedies Jerry Lenert; and Vice-Recteur Académique de l'Université du Luxembourg, Eric Tschirhart.

Each of these political and governmental figures reportedly welcomed the originality and effectiveness of the event, which involves a three-phase procedure. Candidates initially met on an individual basis with a HR counsellor, before meeting with specialists from a variety of fields within the bank. If they were successful during this stage, they were then received by a Senior Manager in the candidate's chosen field, and Global Head of Human Resources at BIL, Karin Scholtes.

The 2nd edition of the BIL JobDating scheme was determined as a successful follow-up to its 2014 predecessor, with almost 500 candidates present at the bank’s headquarters last Saturday. These numerous potential recruits were supervised by 120 BIL staff members who had all volunteered for the event.

The numerous discussions between recruiters and candidates led to a dozen recruitment promises being made during the event. In addition, BIL stated that 20 promising applications are currently being examined, which will probably lead to job offers in the next coming weeks and months.

Apart from the recruitment interviews, all of the candidates were able to learn more about BIL’s various business lines, by way of a comprehensive programme featuring a series of theme-based presentations and an “open-day” visit to the Indépendance branch.

“Given the success of the 2nd edition of BILjobdating, our aim is to make it a not-to-be-missed annual event giving young graduates and less-experienced job-seekers a chance to be hired by a benchmark local bank like BIL," explained Karin Scholtes. "It is highly innovative to give all of the applicants an opportunity, especially as something like motivation cannot be easily detected in a CV. There is nothing like a face-to-face interview as a way to unearth tomorrow’s talent. This way, the bank won’t miss out on a potentially one-in-a-million candidate and each individual has the opportunity to demonstrate his or her talent and personality. It is, in other words, a win-win situation."
