A former KPMG Luxembourg employee, Bénédicte Souy, has started her own specialised company in the Grand Duchy, Moving People 2 Luxembourg.

Bénédicte talked with The Luxembourg Chronicle and explained "Moving people 2 Luxembourg will provide full assistance to companies in Luxembourg concerning the whole immigration process. I will assist companies in their international recruitment or assignment, providing advice about the appropriate work permit according to the criteria of the job as well as the personal situation of the future candidate. The criteria in the job announcement will be different, for example, if you look for a simple associate or a senior officer with his family; the salary offered will be different according to the type of work permit, and the family reunification procedure will also be  different, etc. The relocation firms already existing on the Luxembourgish market provide administrative assistance, but not analysis of the needs of the company and determination of the best work permit process. I, however, can deal with the immigration process from A to Z: from the determination of the appropriate work permit and criteria, preparing the newcomer to work with a culturally diverse team, through a successful settlement in Luxembourg."

In addition to providing traditional relocation services, the company can train the newcomer in multicultural issues, providing personal cross-cultural awareness training, including how to manage the cultural diversity in a team in his/her new company.

At present in the Luxembourgish market, she claimed that no relocation service offers to provide training to the HR team, and explained the full policy and formalities about the migration process. "The HR teams are often obliged to try to manage on their own, usually with no law background. I am prepared to inform the companies about all news in migration, at the European level and Luxembourgish level (proposed bills for example)."

Bénédicte Souy

After obtaining a Master’s degree in European law, she started working in Luxembourg in 2007 at KPMG as the integration officer for the new employees and on their internal Global Mobility programme. She was also in charge of training concerning the cross-cultural diversity in the company. At the end of 2010, she began working at the University of Luxembourg on the IMPALA project (International immigration policy and law analysis), a consortium of 5 Universities including Harvard, with the objective to build a comparative database about immigration and asylum policies and regulations in 26 major OECD countries from 1960 to today. For almost 6 years she was in charge of collecting and analysing data concerning Luxembourg and France.

She decided to create “Moving People 2 Luxembourg” after having been invited to speak at two major conferences: in October 2015, University of Luxembourg, "Migration policy in the European Union - Current challenges and future developments"; and in February 2016, Journée de l'Economie, Chamber of Commerce and Pwc, "Investing in talents, how to attract, grow and retain them?". She realised to what extent companies that recruit at the international level and access the global labour market (IT sector, risk management, specific finance profiles etc.), are insufficiently prepared to use immigration policy to their best advantage.

“Moving People 2 Luxembourg” will focus on the needs of companies, to help them access the global labour market, find the perfect talented employee, and allow the entire HR department to deal with the Luxemburgish migration policy, to develop their quality business in Luxembourg.
