LU-CIX has unveiled the 2016 edition of the "Luxembourg Internet Days" to be held on 22 and 23 November at the Chamber of Commerce of Luxembourg in the presence of Prime Minister Xavier BETTEL.

Many celebrated experts and entrepreneurs from the  ICT sphere from 9 countries on both sides of the Atlantic, will shed light on both of the hottest topics of the year, the Internet of Things (IoT) and Blockchain.

Alongside the conferences themselves, there is a fair that will bring together nearly 50 of the top companies in these two sectors on the one hand, and a Forum dedicated to start-ups on the other.

Last year, Luxembourg Internet Days hosted over 800 professional visitors with a satisfaction rating above 88%. In 2016, LU-CIX says the level of quality of the content of the event is even higher. There are more roundtables and networking opportunities as more than 350 companies will be present with around 30% from abroad.

The 22 November will focus on the Internet of Things. Candi Carrera, Luxembourg Country Manager at Microsoft, will open the debate and speakers will shed new light on  the role of regulators, the impact of the IoT on infrastructure, and the weight of the human challenge in training.

Nicolas Schmit, Minister of Labour, Employment and Social Solidarity, will give a presentation and will participate in a round-table discussion dealing with the latest challenges in this area. Éireann Leverett, Senior Risk Researcher for the Cambridge Centre for Risk Studies and founder and CEO of Concinnity Risks, will be among the highly anticipated speakers.

On 23 November, at 10:00, Xavier BETTEL, Prime Minister and Minister of Communications and Media, will open the day which will be devoted to different aspects of Blockchain technology. This goes well beyond monetary enforcement and will deal with technical, ethical and legal aspects.

At around 09:30 there will be a forum discussion featuring  John McLean, VP of Global Blockchain commitment at IBM Labs, and Joe Lubin, founder of Consensys. The CIO of the Austrian government, Reinhard Posch, will present the first results of Blockchain testing at a national level. Attendees will discuss “The promises of Blockchain; Will this technology  lead to more transparency or a global artificial intelligence?

Alongside the conferences, a "Start-up Forum", implemented by Luxinnovation, will enable budding entrepreneurs to participate in training sessions and to help them advance their project.
