The Fonds National de la Recherche (FNR; ‘National Research Fund’) has organised two Researchers' Days for Friday 2 and Saturday 3 December 2016 at the Rockhal, Esch/Belval.

During the upcoming Researchers’ Days, organised by the FNR and its partners, the Rockhal will transform into a huge research laboratory with more than 20 interactive workshops and science cafés where visitors can discuss science and research. It is the first time in which the events will take place at Esch/Belval, Luxembourg’s site for innovation and research.

The aim of these Researchers’ Days is to encourage direct exchanges between researchers and the public. The organisers hope to promote and anchor science and research in society, as well as showing that these areas are omnipresent in everyday life and that researchers are accessible people, passionate about discussing their work.

The Researchers’ Day on 2 December will be solely open to secondary school students and only upon pre-registration, whereas the event on 3 December is open to people of all ages who wish to do scientific experiments or talk to the researchers present. The latter will take place between 10:00 and 18:00 and will have various free activities on offer with 23 scientific workshops and 2 science cafés.

The science cafés will offer an abundance of information regarding the work of researchers as well as offering information on current topics and the chance to exchange ideas with researchers. These are scientific debates lasting approximately 75 minutes and will take place in ‘The Floor’ space on the Rockhal’s second floor on 3 December between 14:00 and 16:00.
