The Ministry for Sustainable Development and Infrastructure, SNCA and CTIE have discussed digitisation as a method of creating greater transparency and simpler administration.

Amongst worries concerning transparency and simpler administrative steps, the Société nationale de circulation automobile (SNCA) has decided to simplify its clients’ lives through a large modernisation process.

Among the changes to be introduced, there will be a simplification of the procedure for reserving a registration number for all road vehicles. As such, the public will be able to ask reserve a personalised car registration number online via MyGuichet. The electronic service will be accessible 24/7 on Guichet.lu’s secure platform.

Moreover, as of yesterday, 19 December 2016, other processes such as requesting a registration certificate, which is obligatory in Luxembourg for all new vehicles, or requesting a copy of this certificate, can be completed online.

These changes aim to improve the speed of the processes and relations between administrative staff and citizens. They form part of the second stage of SNCA’s digitisation programme.

Other SNCA processes will be accessible online in the coming months as well, including that of getting a drivers’ licence.

Furthermore, in an attempt to have more transparent administration, the government plans to give every citizen the chance to consult online their own details held by administration as well as checking which administration has access to these details.

Information regarding one’s drivers’ licence will also be consultable on line, as well as its expiry date and possible sanctions recorded on the licence.

These advances form part of the Digital Lëtzebuerg initiative and aim to speed up the development of a digitised administration which offers an ever-better service to citizens.
