The Luxembourg Government today launched the official website of the Luxembourg Presidency of the Council of the EU, www.eu2015lu.eu

The new site contains a calendar with details of informal and formal Council meetings, as well as a list of the Council's priorities and pledges, including to listening to citizens, supporting businesses, and collaborating with partners and institutions to act in the European interest.

The Council has promised its website team will work continuously to provide the site with up-to-date information of all the most important decisions and activities made by the Council Presidency from 1 July 2015 onwards.

Two Twitter accounts will also reportedly be in operation:

  • @RPUE_LU, which will be the account of the Permanent Representation and will broadcast Council activities such as decisions made, trilogues, and press conferences, until after the Presidency
  • @eu2015lu, which will deal with formal and informal Council actions as well as Presidency-related events taking place in Luxembourg.

The current Presidency of the Council of the European Union represents the twelfth held by the national goverment of Luxembourg, and the first to take place under the auspices of the Lisbon Treaty which bestows the Union with an enhanced purview.
