Luxembourg-based steel manufacturing company ArcelorMittal is contributing to construction in South America by providing the foundations for new infrastructure in Brazil.

Projects for which ArcelorMittal has provided steel include São Joaõ da Barra's Açu Bridge in Rio de Janeiro, as well as residential developments across the country.

"Our focus, and what distinguishes us from the competition in Brazil, is our ability to deliver complete structural solutions that eliminate those phases that don't bring any value to our customer's final product," commented Cinara Wastowski, regional sales manager for construction at the Brazil branch of ArcelorMittal. "As a result, AreclorMittal construction solutions are safer, more cost-effective, and avoid material wastage - while allowing projects to be completed in shorter timeframes."

The construction of the 1,340 metre long Açu Bridge has received 2,000 tonnes worth of steel rebar cordage and pipe from the company. By connecting Açu Port to Highway 101 in São Joaõ da Barra, it is expected to facilitate the flow of traffic following its anticipated conclusion in July 2016.

ArcelorMittal is due to supply an additional 750 tonnes of steel for a residential building in Balnéario Camboriú entitled the Phoenix Tower, as well as 1,000 tonnes for the 'Vila do Parque' series of residential tower units in the in-demand neighbourhood of Ribeirão Preto. Both projects are expected to be completed before March 2020.
