Goodyear announced the opening of its new tyre testing laboratory in Colmar-Berg today, which the company describes as a state of the art facility, integrating the latest technology for testing car, light truck and truck tyres.

Speaking at the inauguration, Jean Claude Kihn, Goodyear’s President for Europe, Middle East and Africa, said: “Our investment in this state of the art facility will enable us to meet the exacting demands of our customers and consumers.

“Additionally, it further strengthens our presence in and commitment to Luxembourg.”

The new laboratory is equipped to perform three key testing activities, namely tyre development performance measurements, regulatory and homologation tests to measure tyre compliance with a large variety of global and international standards, as well as monitoring production performance and quality control.

In addition to Kihn and other Goodyear leaders, the inauguration was attended by Gast Jacobs, mayor of Colmar-Berg.

Speaking at the event, Mayor Jacobs said: “Goodyear has a long history of innovation, research and development in Luxembourg. We welcome its continuous support with diversifying the economy in Luxembourg and here in Colmar-Berg especially.”

Carlos Cipollitti, Goodyear’s vice president, Product Development EMEA and general director of the Goodyear Innovation Centre in Luxembourg, added, “The innovative technology and machinery in the new laboratory strengthens our ability to test tires in our lab, which means that we do not have to perform as much testing on the road, speeding development time and getting innovative new tyres to customers faster than ever.”
