Steel plate from ArcelorMittal USA will soon be holding up New York’s skyline, with the construction of One Vanderbilt, New York’s newest and fourth-taller skyscraper.

The 427-metre tower building on the corner of 42nd Street and Vanderbilt Avenue will be completed in 2020, with 158,000 square metres devoted primarily to office space and some reserved for retail and entertainment.

ArcelorMittal’s Coatesville and Conshohocken plate facilities will be supplying all of the plate to the customer, Banker Steel. Based in Lynchburg, Virginia, Banker is a steel fabrication company that began operations in 1997 and has facilities in Virginia, New Jersey and Florida.

“ArcelorMittal USA Plate is proud and honoured to be a supplier to One Vanderbilt tower,” says John Battisti, chief operating officer, ArcelorMittal USA Plate. “This also continues our history of not only being a main contributor to the skyline of New York City, but also the thoroughfare to and from the city with our 100 percent supply of plate products for the continued construction of the Tappan Zee bridge.”
