On Friday, 200 people celebrated the bouquet event concerning the start of construction of the Opkorn shopping centre in Differdange; this event, which marks the end of the preparatory structural work, is traditionally organised to thank the workers, engineers and architects involved in the project.

The construction site of the Opkorn shopping mall took on the appearance of a Christmas market, while the real estate developer Ikogest, the general contractor CLE and the various trades groups, celebrated the solid progress of the works. Also present were representatives from Moreno Architecture & Associés, Auchan Luxembourg, shopkeepers and the Mayor of Differdange.
Eric Lux, Managing Director of Ikogest, praised the efficiency and professionalism of CLE. He was very satisfied with the quality of execution, the respect of deadlines and wanted to acknowledge the work of the 66 CLE workers who worked on the site.

With the main structural work now completed, the final volumes of the shopping centre can now be visalised; the interior proportions of the building, i.e. 200 metres from end to end.

A mock-up of the shopping centre was prepared for the occasion, of natural stone columns and floors, acoustic ceilings, luminous gorges, and signs. The quality of the materials used will make it elegant, warm and bright. It will have 5 imposing glass rooves - the gallery is bathed in natural light.

End of 2017: the countdown is launched!

From the outside, the next visible step for passers-by will be the installation of the metal cladding on the facade next march. This will reveal the final look of the Opkorn shopping centre. But internally the works are connected, the technical installations have already started: heating, ventilation, fire protection ... involving circa 20 building companies and 30 subcontractors, working toowards the objective of opening before the end of 2017.

Everything is implemented on the site to ensure the safety of everyone, under the supervision of the health and safety coordinator.

The anchor tenant, Auchan, will have a hypermarket of nearly 5,000 m², in addition to 27 shops, 3 kiosks, 5 restaurants and terraces. There will be car parking on 2 levels with more than 500 parking spaces.

The project represents an investment of more than €50 million.
