Cargolux has announced the addition of a once-weekly service to Ashgabat to its Turkmenistan network.

The Luxembourg cargo carrier started flights to Turkmenbashi this time last year, and now provides eight Turkmenistan services weekly. In July, this will be boosted to 11 per week.

Ashgabat joins the cities of Baku, Novosibirsk, Almaty and Tbilisi which already form part of the company's Central Asian network. The region has shown a recent impressive growth and holds many possibilities and opportunities for Cargolux's high quality services offering.

Ashgabat has invested in the deveopment of a new airport that is scheduled to open in September and a modern carho centre that becomes operational on 4 July 2016. The city will also host the Aisna Games in 2017.

The airline holds a worldwide network of 90destinations, cooperating with Turkmenistan Airlines to enhance the number of cargo destinations both carriers can offer to their customers. Cargolux can now also better serve surrounding markets such as Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan.

The maiden flight to Ashgabat was part of the “LX-VCM World Tour”. On the occasion of the 45th anniversary of Cargolux, a 747-8F was painted in a special livery created by the reputed Belgian cartoonist Philippe Cruyt.
