On Friday, Johan Vanneste, CEO at Lux-Airport presented details of the extension of the Kiss & Fly car-park and new traffic rules around the airport that have come into effect just in time for the peak holiday season of the end of July and August, in Luxembourg, for a total investment of €3.5 million which took 3 months to implement (over 2 shifts).

Until now, motorists could bypass the Kiss & fly and stop close to the terminal, parking illegally and often creating difficulties for other motorists and passengers. Now, all vehicles are routed to either the Kiss & Fly (open-air) car-park (free parking for 1st 15 minutes, likewise the outdoor car-parks E, F & G) or the Indoor (underground) Car-Park A or B. Dropping off or collecting passengers directly in front of the terminal building is now not possible for security reasons; however, emergency vehicles will still be able to gain access.

The new Kiss & Fly (open-air) car-park has been more than doubled, from 131 to 292 (up 123%), with an additional space too (east side) for minibuses, etc., up from 22 to 50. The number of handicapped / reduced mobility spaces has also been increased from 4 to 12, and diplomatic vehicles has access to an additional 6 spaces. For buses, there is now one more space for public buses and a free shuttle bus to Parking M. there is now also free parking for bicycles (covered), scooters and motorcycles (open-air).

The number of entrances plus exits to the Kiss & Fly have both been increased from 2 to 4, with minibuses having a dedicated entrance, and taxis also have use of an additional lane.

Free parking at the Kiss & Fly open-air car-park is now possible to be extended from 15 to 30 minutes, with a purchase at the Aelia Duty Free shop or consumption at Starbucks, Oberweis boutique, Lux Brewery or the Comptoir du Bon Pays restaurant. This can be extended to 2 hours (120 minutes) free parking when having lunch or dinner in the Oberweis Restaurant on the 1st floor, or with any purchase over €50 at the Aelia Duty Free Shop. These 30 & 120 minutes free parking benefits are valid for all Lux-Airport car-parks.

In addition, the free wi-fi has been extended to the Kiss & Fly car-park area.

Johan Vanneste confirmed that revenue for car parking is very important for Lux-Airport and future revenues will be re-invested in future developments at the airport.
