LuxairCARGO has reported an 8% annual growth for its 2016 operations compared to 2015 with 11,115 aircraft movements, 113,000 trucks loaded and unloaded, and a total of 820,000 tons of airfreight handled in 2016.

These figures represent its best performance since 2007, which was a record year, as volumes handled reached 896,000 tons.

December 2016’s operational results even mark a historical turning point, as LuxairCARGO handled almost 83,000 tons in December alone.

Moreover, LuxairCARGO’s GDP certification (Good Distribution Practices) for its logistics platform as a whole, which was obtained in 2013, has just been extended for another 3 years. This certification covers all the recommendations and official guidelines relating to the transportation and distribution of pharmaceutical products for human use. It is a guarantee of quality for all actors in the logistics chain and the end customer, in particular for operations carried out at the Pharma & Healthcare Hub.

LuxairCARGO performances have significantly progressed in this particularly regulated domain and this has had a positive impact on LuxairCARGO’s operational growth. Temperature-sensitive freight volumes handled have indeed increased from 24,400 tons to 30,000 tons between 2014 and 2016.

The air-freight industry is increasingly competitive and pressure on prices means that LuxairCARGO’s financial performances are not in line with its operational performances.
