Following the announcement of fraudulent practices in one of Belgium’s largest transport companies, LCGB Transport has called once again for more controls of working conditions in the transport sector by the Labour and Mines Inspectorate (ITM).

Jost SA is accused of social dumping by recruiting workers and truck drivers from Eastern Europe for work in Luxembourg, Belgium, Slovakia and Romania under employment conditions set in their country of origin.

The LCGB says that it deplores the fact that Luxembourg, and especially ITM, has once again suffered greatly in the absence of controls on working conditions, not to mention the housing conditions of the employees concerned.

LCGB Transport therefore calls for the implementation of corrective measures, allowing employees to keep their jobs on dignified conditions as well as to reinstall the true social dialogue within Jost S.A.

LCGB Transport hopes that the investigation initiated at the level of one of the largest transport companies in the Grand Duchy will ultimately lead to the establishment of genuine and valid controls to stop these fraudulent practices within the sector.

LCGB Transport requires that these judicial controls have a persuasive effect not only on other companies in the sector but also on the GTI, while increasing the level of controls for posted workers. In this context, LCGB Transport has also requested an interview with the relevant ministry.
