Luxembourg's Administration des ponts et chaussées has announced that the works currently being undertaken at Lux-Airport have been stopped.

Following the announcement at the end of 2016 of the scope of the rehabilitation work on the aerodrome maneuvering area, in the light of the analyses and studies carried out within the framework of certification, the current operations have been stopped.

The initial runway rehabilitation project had been extended to all aeronautical pavements used by planes travelling between the runway and the terminal buildings. The project, covering the runway and the taxiways (service lanes), also deals with the upgrading of adjacent surfaces and safety areas at the end of the runway.

In order to ensure optimum coordination, the project had been developed simultaneously with the aerodrome certification process under the aegis of the Civil Aviation Directorate in accordance with the EASA (European Aviation Safety Agency).

The tendering procedure is now scheduled for 2018, after certification, so that the renewal of the runway can be started in the spring of 2019.

During the preparatory phases, the operation of the runway will be suspended between midnight and 06:00 depending on the work. From spring 2019, the runway will be blocked between 23:00 and 06:00 on weekdays, between March and October, depending on the construction site.
