The New World Theatre Company (NWTC) has announced that it will be holding auditios for DANCE WITH ME by Alireza Gholamishilsar - an AIKL integration project to be co-produced by NWTC - this Sunday 7 May 2017 from 15:00 - 17:00 at HARIKO Croix-Rouge (1 Dernier Sol, L-2543 Luxembourg-Bonnevoie).

The audition will be led by the playwright who will be assisted by AIK on the linguistic side and by NWTC on the artistic and organisational sides. Due to the linguistic challenges involved, the audition will be largely limited to a demonstration by each auditionee of his or her reading of lines of one or several of the characters in the play.

“Dance With Me” is an adult integration project which AIKL brought to NWTC's attention in the course of its SHOUT OUT refugee youth theatre workshop of last year; NWTC is facilitating the production of this play.

SYNOPSIS: A man who escapes the horrors of oppression and fear of his distant homeland finds refuge in a peaceful little country - but finds no peace of mind.

Alireza's script is based on personal experience. One of the play’s purposes is to raise awareness of the additional plight brought on by red tape but also of the benefits of embracing diversity.

The play will be performed in English, interspersed with some Farsi. It consists of a male actor interacting with his different inner selves (Hope, Love, Fear etc, each emotion being played by one other person) and with a personified Death. The play is for 6-9 actors. It will last a little under an hour and will have a very strong musical and dance component (which, at the moment, falls outside the tasks of the actors).   Auditions are open to all adults, regardless of gender or linguistic accent. Actors will be selected based on their portrayal of the different characters. A two-page script excerpt will be sent to each candidate.
