The Ministry of Culture today revealed that Luxembourg artist Chantal Maquet was awarded a three-month residency in the Annexes of the Château de Bourglinster.

The Annexes were reopened in April 2014 by Maggy Nagel, Luxembourg's Minister of Culture and Eric Schrader, reponsible for culture in Saarbrücken, after a €930,000 renovation. The Annexes include five workshops, two residency studios and a multi-purpose room designed to offer space for young, emerging artists from Luxembourg and neighbouring countries.

After the art exhibition which took place from 24 until 27 July 2015, at the same time as the 'Capital Sounds' music festival in Rotondes, Luxembourgish artist Chantal Maquet won a residency at the Annexes of the Château de Bourglinster which is to last three months. Four awards, designed to reward the talents of 18 young participating artists, were also awarded at the vernissage.

Chantal Maquet, currently residing in Cologne, was selected as the residency recipient by a jury of independent actors from the cultural world. She was reportedly chosen for her participatory artistic approach, and her ability to capture in a few masterful brushstrokes the instant of the movement. Through a series of oil paintings, she documented the bustle and comings and goings of life at the festival.

The artist residencies programme at the Annexes of the Château de Bourglinster is open to any discipline and artistic style  and offers artists an environment to encourage research and experimentation. The residency will offer Chantal housing, a workshop, and practical and financial support.
