The feature-length documentary ‘Barrage’ by Laura Schroeder will be released in Luxembourg on Wednesday 19 July 2017.

As part of the film’s world tour of festival launches, ‘Barrage’ will hit Luxembourgish and French cinemas next month. The documentary was first shown in Luxembourg last March during the Luxembourg City Film Festival.

International press has referred to Schroeder’s work as “movingly delicate” (IndieWire) and “intimate and well-played” (The Hollywood Reporter).

The film tells the story of expat Catherine who, after ten years abroad, returns to Luxembourg to reconnect with her daughter Alba, raised by her grandmother. But this is not as easy as it may seem on this journey to self-discovery.

Written by Laura Schroeder and the French novelist Marie Nimier, ‘Barrage’ is a female drama starring the actress Lolita Chammah.

Shot largely near Lake Haute-Sûre, ‘Barrage’ also features Isabelle Huppert, as well as the young Themis Pauwels. The Luxembourg actors Charles Müller, Marja-Leena Juncker and Luc Schiltz complete the casting.
