Luxembourg’s filmmakers were proudly represented at the 67th Berlin International Film Festival this year, with three Luxembourg co-productions in the official program and seven co-productions shown at the European Film Market (EFM), and among the audience was an appreciative Luxembourg Secretary of State for Culture, Guy Arendt.

Secretary Arendt took time to take in a screening of the film Barrage, directed by Laura Schroeder and co-produced by Paul Cruchten and Red Lion. The second feature film by the Luxembourger (after Schatzritter in 2012), the drama is shot in large part near Lake Haute-Sûre and features Luxembourg actors Charles Müller, Marja-Leena Juncker and Luc Schiltz.

Secretary Arendt welcomed Luxembourg's presence in Berlin this year, particularly the levels which they were selected. “With three Luxembourg co-productions in the official program, this shows that the artistic quality of our Luxembourg filmmakers enjoys great recognition at the international level,” he said.

Included in the main selections were Richard The Stork, a 3D animated feature film directed by Toby Genkel and Reza Memari, and Es War Einmal In Deutschland. Five other Luxembourg co-productions were represented at the EFM, namely Mullewapp, an animated feature film by Tony Loeser and Theresa Strozyk, Die Nacht der 1000 Stunden by Virgil Wodrich, Rusty Boys by Andy Bausch, Bavo Defurne's Souvenir, and Storm by Dennis Bots'.
