The International Festival of Animation Film in Annecy attracts every year about 7,000 animation professionals, making it the largest in the world.

The National Support Fund for Audiovisual Production in Luxembourg has attended this event since 2000 with a promotional stand encompassing fifteen Luxembourg animation companies (production, studios and service providers).

Official selection out of competition include the feature film Extraordinary Tales by Raul Garcia (adaptation of five stories of Edgar Allan Poe), 63% co-produced by Melusine Productions and which will compete in the "television films" category, the series Polo by Caroline Origer adapted by Régis Faller, for 3-6 year-olds: short episodes of 6 minutes and without words, produced mainly by Fabrique d'Images.

BTS Animation students of the Lycée technique des arts et métiers de Luxembourg (LTAM) are once again coming together with teachers to promote the BTS on a stand located in the "Training Institutes" space.

During the tradional "speed dating" meetings, LTAM students will present to animation professionals their talents for potential internship or recruitment.

The Film Fund Luxembourg and producers will attended a networking meeting organised by UNIFRANCE (with support from the Film Fund Luxembourg, SODEC, Swiss Films and WB Images) aimed at boosting relations between professionals and international partners (broadcasters, festivals, distributors and institutions).

Guy Daleiden, director of the Film Fund Luxembourg, will attend to support the profession; he recalled the importance of the animation industry in Luxembourg. "When I see the projects that are in the pipeline for the coming months, I do not worry for the future of the audiovisual sector in general and animation in particular."

Stephan Roelants announced the recent creation of the Federation of the animation business and the virtual image which aims to defend the interests of its members. The committee consists of Stephan Roelants (Chairman), Laurent Witz (Vice-President), Pierre Urbain (General Secretary) and Regis Drujont (treasurer). As to the dynamism of the sector, 3 animated feature films co-produced by Luxembourg production companies are expected on the screens in the coming months, namely: "Two by two" (formerly Oooops Noah is gone, by Fabrique d’Images), "Le prince et les 108 démons / The Prince and the 108 demons" (Bidibul Productions), and "Mullewapp" (Melusine Productions).
