On 24 and 25 January 2016, a delegation of Luxembourg producers and representatives of Film Fund Luxembourg were at the Trieste Film Festival to meet with Italian producers and learn about the different support mechanisms for co-productions.

These Italian-Luxembourg meetings were organised by the General Directorate of Cinema of the Italian Ministry of Culture, after several bilateral events took place during the Festival of Villerupt last year. The purpose of the exchange was to find out more about potential co-production, as well as recent developments in the respective audiovisual sectors. The Luxembourg delegation was made up of representatives from Samsa Film, Amour Fou, a_Bahn and Paul Thiltges Distributions, as well as from the Luxembourg Film Fund.

Luxembourg has held such ties with Italy since 1996, with the completion of the first feature film by Enzo d'Alò, 'La Freccia Azzurra'. Enzo d'Alò has since created the series 'Pipi, Pupù et Rosemary' and 'Pinocchio' in Luxembourg in 2013, with his next deature film currently being developed from Luxembourg.

"We would like to extend the good relations that exist in animation to the fiction, documentaries and new media sector as well," commented Guy Daleiden, Director of the Fund. "Contacts have been made. Our wishes must now be realised in real projects, that is the aim of our exchange."

Luxembourg director Pol Cruchten was honoured at the International Film Festival in Trieste, which hosted the world premiere of his new documentary 'Voices from Chernobyl'.

The Luxembourg delegation also participated in the co-production platform 'When East Meets West', featuring pitching sessions, case studies, panel discussions and professional exchanges, organised as part of the Trieste Film Festival.
