On Friday 23 September, Film Fund Luxembourg announced that at its selection committee meeting this week (sitting from Wednesday to Friday), it has approved both pre-production and production grants for a total of 12 new film projects in Luxembourg, including some co-productions.

The total amount of funding allocated was €5,880,443, which included €397,500 for nine pre-production projects and €5,482,933 for three production projects.

1. Financial assistance for writing and/or development of ideas:

• California City €37,500; medium-length documentary – writer-director: Fabrizio Maltese – Production: Samsa Film.
• Jean & Jeanne, €30,000; feature-length fiction – writer: Jeanne Tremsal – writer-director: Christopher Roth – Production: Amour Fou.
• Bille & Zottel, €30,000; feature-length fiction – writer: Elodie Malanda, writer-director: Eileen Byrne – Production: Paul Thiltges Distributions.
• Skin Walker €120,000; feature-length fiction – writer-director: Christian Neuman – Production: Calach Films.
• Keep it Country, €30,000; feature-length fiction – writer: Steven Goldsmith – writer-director: Ciaran O’Connor - Production: Red Lion.
• Euro Motor, €30,000; feature-length fiction – writer-director: Filip Markiewicz - Production: Les Films Fauves.
• OOOPS!2, €30,000; feature-length animation – writers: Richie Conroy, Mark Hodkinson - writer-directors: Toby Genkel, Sean McCormack – Production: Fabrique d’Images.
• Inside Out, €60,000; transmedia project – writer-director: Charlotte Bruneau – Production: a_Bahn.
• #Wearefamilies, €30,000; transmedia project – writer-director: Caroline Fournier – Production: Tarantula Luxembourg.

2. Financial assistance for film production:

• Make it Better, €572,933; feature-length fiction – writer-director: Sarah Hirtt – Production: Samsa Film.
• Justice Dot Net, €2,760,000; feature-length fiction – writer: Thom Richardson; director: Pol Cruchten – Production: Iris Productions.
• Bayala, €2,150,000; feature-length animation – writer: Vanessa Walder – writer-directors: Federico Milella and Aina Jarvine – Production: Fabrique d’Images.

The selection committee had analysed a totla of 21 projects for a total amount of aid requested of €12,274,842.

The next meeting of the selection of the National Audiovisual Production Support Fund Committee is scheduled to be held on 29 and 30 November and 1 December 2016. The Selection Committee consists of Jean-Louis Scheffen (Chair), Guy Daleiden, Boyd van Hoeij, Karin Schockweiler, Rachel Schmid and Sébastien Tasch (committee secretary).
