On 7 and 8 December 2016, some 40 producers from North Rhine-Westphalia (NRW) and Luxembourg met in Cologne to explore coproduction opportunities.

Earlier this week, there was a meeting to discuss coproduction opportunities between Luxembourg and NRW. The production companies involved were Samsa Film, Paul Thiltge's Distributions, Red Lion, Calach Films, Doghouse Films, Amour Fou, Skill Lab, Deal Productions and Tarantula.

The meeting provided an opportunity for the producers to learn about new projects and financing opportunities and to explore new contacts in the neighbouring country. On the basis of two case studies, the opportunities and challenges of coproductions between Luxembourg and NRW were examined in more detail. For instance, they discussed the examples of Hannah Arendt, presented by producers Bady Minck (Amour Fou Luxembourg) and Bettina Brokemper (Heimatfilm), and Die Räuber (Les Brigands) produced by Pol Cruchten (Red Lion) and Christina Kiauk (Coin Film).

Guy Daleiden, who is the Managing Director of Film Fund Luxembourg, stated that: "Coproduction meetings like this meeting in NRW are of decisive importance for the networking and professional exchange of the Luxembourg film industry. They allow us to attract new film projects that have a positive impact on the further development of our film industry.”

The co-production meeting was organised jointly by Film Fund Luxembourg and the Film and Media Foundation NRW. The cooperative partners were the Creative Europe Desks MEDIA Luxembourg and NRW.
