Aerowaves Dance Festival set for 3-5 September at Neimënster
The 3rd annual Aerowaves Dance Festival Luxembourg, co-organised by TROIS C-L (Centre de Création Chorégraphique Luxembourgeois) and Neimënster, will take place between 3 and 5 September 2015 at the Banannebarik and in the Salle Robert Krieps at the Abbaye de Neumünster in Luxembourg-Grund, which will see eight choreographic works performed and the projection of a dance video.
The Aerowaves - Dance across Europe network will enable the Greater Region public to see the best in European contemporary dance from some one of the most exciting European dance companies. Established in 1996, the cross-border network annually brings together dance specialists from over 35 countries - their mission: the selection, promotion and dissemination of twenty choreographic pieces per year, across the continent.
Audiences will be able to see "Against the flow" by Anu Sistonen, winner of the audience award at the (Re) connaissance festival in 2013. Seduced by la Sonate for piano n°3 by Frederic Chopin, the choreographer was inspired by this work that is full of life and energy to create a trio sometimes punctuated by fluid movements evoking the element of water, sometimes requiring dancers obstacles and progression against the current.
Another highlight of the evening: the solo "Please me Please" by Israeli choreographer Liat T. Waysbort, which portrays the young dancer Ivan Ugrin. Embodying both a man and a woman - in this case an actor X and a ballerina, Ugrin thwarts the viewer's perception and questions the codes of contemporary dance in terms of representation of the human and of pornography.
Finally, the video-dance "Outside in" by Tove Skeidsvoll and Petrus Sjövik - voted best film at the competition "Dance Camera West" in Los Angeles - will plunge the audience into a forest full of a thousand and one dangers. Among trees misleading gaits, a young dancer -a sort of Red Riding Hood of modern times - decides to think outside the box ... a choreographic adventure ensues.
