The municipal theatre in Esch-Sur-Alzette has announced the national premiere of Giorgio Mancini’s ballet “Tristan und Isolde” which will take place on Sunday 2 October at 20:00.

The show has been created using musical extracts from Wagner’s famous opera and stars Dorothée Gilbert and Mathieu Ganio, two exceptional, renowned ballet dancers from the Paris Opera.
Choreographer Giorgio Mancini had a successful career as a dancer in 20th Century Ballet and at Béjart Ballet in Lausanne before becoming the manager of the Grand Théâtre de Genève at the age of 31. In 2011, he founded his own dance company, GM Ballet.

Mancini discovered Dorothée and Mathieu when he was the judge on a dance contest at the Paris Opera in 2004. Whilst he was envisaging the creation of “Tristan und Isolde”, they immediately came to mind as a result of their dance and interpretation skills.
