The Circle Theater of New York (CTNY) and the Luxembourg National Theatre have teamed up to produce “Trail of Crumbs: A Recurring Dystopia for Hansel and Gretel”, which reinterprets the classic story through a modern perspective; and have announced multiple show dates in the Grand-Duchy throughout June.
This ensemble-created production is the first collaboration between the two theatres, and premiered in New York City last month.
It will open in Luxembourg on 16 June at 20:00, with additional shows on 18, 19, 24, 25 and 30 June. All performances begin at 20:00.
Synopsis
The story is the same, but the world has changed. Abandoned by their parents, Hansel and Gretel find themselves caught in a struggle between two vicious ideologues. Between the opposing camps, moves a third, more seductive force. In a place where children are lost to violence and extremism, Hansel and Gretel quickly lose their ability to distinguish between right and wrong. They lead the audience on a dangerous journey between mythical and real, and together, discover the darkness of what lies within the forest.
