The Story In Motion Project has announced the premiere of The Virginia Monologues to be performed at the Théâtre National du Luxembourg (194 route de Longwy, L-1940 Luxembourg) on 24 & 25 June 2016 (20:00 shows).

This production takes the form of a unique theatre show of stories, scenes and monologues with live music accompaniment, is directed by Timothy Lone and features Nathalie Jacoby and Rhona Richards, with music by Peter Corser.

Taking its inspiration from Virginia Woolf’s 1928 essay A Room of One’s Own, The Virginia Monologues is an improvised show for two female performers. Sparked by audience suggestions, the show presents stories, monologues and scenes, all centering around the lives of women. Out of the hubbub of female voices past and present, historical and fictional, wonderful and terrifying emerges the story of women’s dreams and fears, their insecurities and triumphs. Comic at times, at times tragic or poignant, anything can happen. Because every moment, including live music and lighting, is created on the spot.

In The Virginia Monologues the stories will unfold as the evening unfolds, the actors discovering them at the same time as the audience. Theatre thereby becomes an act of creative complicity between the actors and the audience, who witness a rare moment of dramatic candour, an authentic act of creation.

"A woman must have money and a room of her own if she is to write fiction". Virginia Woolf
