On 10 November 2016, the jury chosen by the Fédération luxembourgeoise des théâtres professionels selected British playwright Dennis Kelly’s ‘Love & Money’ to represent francophone Luxembourgish theatre at Festival Off Avignon 2018.

The jury, made up of Simone Beck, Stéphane Gilbart, Vinciane Koch and Pablo Chimienti chose Dennis Kelly’s play, co-produced by the Théâtre du Centaure, the Kulturhaus Niederanven and the Théâtre Municipal d’Esch-sur-Alzette, for its sociological relevance.

With this play, Dennis Kelly once again avoids any kind of reductive Manicheism and leaves the spectator space for personal reflection. ‘Love & Money’ develops current themes such as those of excessive consumerism and debt, as well as their potentially tragic consequences.

This pairing of current topics with a theatrical approach is elevated by Myriam Muller’s stage production and the actors’ interpretations of the text and its different tones.
