Students from St George’s International School will perform their own version of H. G. Wells’ ‘The War of the Worlds’ on Monday 26 June 2017 at the school auditorium, from 18:00.

Next week, Year 9 and 10 drama students from the school will be performing a new piece of youth theatre entitled “The War of the Worlds – The best stories are always true”. The play is based on the original 19th-century novel by English author Wells.

The story starts in modern day with a group of scientists who are tasked with the important job of keeping the true story of Alien invasion as a national secret. The red weed, the ship Thunderchild, the artillery man’s diary are all evidential artefacts, stored and preserved by the UK government’s conspiracy taskforce. As the story unfolds the truth is revealed by a young boy called Joe, the most unlikely of protagonists, and the world is once again at risk of Alien invasion. Will the scientists find a solution? Can the national secrets be maintained?

The students’ performance will be accompanied by a live band.

The event is open to the public.

Tickets are free of charge and can be booked online at www.st-georges.lu/waroftheworlds
