The Librarie Ernster book store in Luxembourg has recieved official recognition that it has indeed set a world record for a Book Pyramid, from the Guinness Book of Records.

Building the largest pyramid of books in Luxembourg was the challenge set by Ernster library during its 125th anniversary, a feat it achieved when constructing the book pyramid at the Belle Etoile shopping centre over a period of 18 days.

On 9 March, the book store had invited visitors to bring their books to the Belle Etoile; from 15 April, the pyramid began to grow with every new book arrival. The construction was completed on 29 April, resulting in an impressive pyramid of 63,377 books!

This feat was achieved for a good cause - for each book collected, 10 cents was donated to ALUPSE Asbl (Luxembourg Association for the Prevention of Child Abuse) via the Mameranus Lions Club and the Rotary Club Luxembourg-Vallées.

After dismantling of the pyramid, all the books will be redistributed or recycled.
