A new illustrated book depicting Luxembourgish emigration to the United States and the development of relations between the two countries is now available to buy from publishers Brain & More.

The book, entitled 'Luxembourg-America: 19th, 20th and 21st Centuries' contains documentation written in English and divided into two parts. The first part, 'Luxembourg, Before and Now', represents an updated version of the exhibition displayed at the Luxembourg American Cultural Centre in New Luxembourg-Belgium in Wisconsin, USA. This 160-page section explains the history, economy, politics, culture, architecture and landscapes of Luxembourg and the phenomenon of Luxembourgish emigration to the United States, as well as the current situation of some of the estimated 72,000 people who made the journey.

The second part of the book provides a collection of various essays devoted to famous Luxembourgish and American figures, as well as the relations between the two communities.

The book was edited by communications agency Brain & More in partnership with The Roots and Leaves Association, and represents a unique work of its kind for the general public. The book also serves as the official guide for The Roots and Leaves Museum in New Luxembourg - Belgium in Wisconsin, USA. Many established and recognised authors and collaborators participated in the project, such as Georges Calteux, Guy Dockendorf, Paul Dostert, Ferdy Dumont, Jean Ensch, Carlo Krieger, Paul Lesch, Guy Thomas, Sandra Schmit and Pauline Weis.

The book forms part of the Luxembourg Presidency of the Council of the European Union which is held by the Grand Duchy from 1 July to 31 December 2015. The book will be available in select Luxembourgish bookshops at the end of July, for the price of €32. It is available in English to offer both Luxembourg's citizens and its tourists and visitors from abroad the chance to learn more about the country's history and its relationship with the United States.
