From mid-May 2016, the country's first self-service bookshelf will be installed at place du Théâtre in Luxembourg City.

Known as the 'Bicherschaf', the bookshelf will be accessible 24/7 to young and old and for free without registration.

In preparation of the official opening of 'Bicherschaf', taking place on Thursday 12 May 2016, the Ville de Luxembourg is currently involved in collecting children's books. Therefore, members of the public with spare books for children and young people ages 6 months to 16 years to which they would like to give a second life are invited to submit them to the Centre d'animation pédagogique et de loisirs (CAPEL) at 4-12 rue de l'École, L-1454 Luxembourg.

Books can be handed in between 09:00 and 16:00 Monday-Friday, or by appointment at 4796-4608, up until 10 May 2016.
