Chistina Erbertz has been selected as the winner of this year's scholarship for the Struwwelpippi children's and youth book author's residency. The German author was able to convince the jury through the ease of her writing, paired with irony and use of humour despite touching on some very difficult subjects.

"Struwwelpippi" is a collection of children's and youth books, organized in collaboration with the Luxembourg Ministry of Culture and the Center national de littérature and the city of Echternach, bringing together the published work of German-speaking children's and youth book authors, regardless of age or nationality.

The 16th author's residency will take place from 22 May to 18 June, 

A diverse supporting program of readings, discussions, and more, as well as the chance for students to meet the author, are intended to help create a completely new relationship between children and young people with regard to language, reading and literature.

Christina Erbertz was born in 1973 in Bielefeld, studied English in Bochum and screenplay writing at the German Film and Television Academy in Berlin. She designs and writes television series for children, including Beutolomäus, Witch Lilli, Löwenzahn. In 2013, she publshed two novels for children: Freddy and the Worm is an adventure story of children with psychological problems that are on the trail of a book burner. In the summer of 2014, her second novel Der Ursuppenprinz (2014), which is also available as a radio play, is followed by themes such as exhortation, research, chaotic conditions in the family, but above all friendship. In 2016, her first youthful romance addressed themes of bullying and rape.
