The sponsorship campaign “All patrons of a Koekkoek piece”, launched by Luxembourg’s National Museum of the History of Art (MNHA) on 3 May 2016, will end at the end of October.

In May 2016, MNHA began the campaign to promote the sponsorship of a piece which was too expensive for the museum’s budget. The attempt to obtain financial sponsorship for one of Barend Cornelius Koekkoek’s paintings entitled “Vue sur le château de Larochette”, which was painted for Dutch King and Luxembourgish Grand Duke Guillaume II, has been very successful.

According to the National Cultural Fund (FOCUNA), the sponsorship platform, where people agree to donate €50 or more, has received 246 sponsorship pledges to date. This adds up to a total of €85,335.47. Most sponsors are individuals who are interested in protecting cultural heritage.

However, since the total amount needed to publicly preserve the piece (€100,000) still has not been reached, MNHA is calling one last time for financial support from the public.
