Opderschmelz Cultural Centre has announced that the Behnam music ensemble, a quartet of young musicians from Iran, will be performing live at the Dudelange venue next Monday 1 June from 20:00 in the Big Auditorium.

Behnam, currently touring Germany, will make a quick pit stop in the Grand-Duchy on short notice to demonstrate their musical passion to a Luxembourg audience. In Iran, choosing to go undergo a career in music is not easy, and it is near impossible for women to be featured on stage. This musical ensemble, therefore has to make do with concerts at underground venues and do their best to live out their passion.

Their music is difficult to categorise or classify – somewhere between jazz and dance with a Middle Eastern twist – but is fresh and genuine. Those in attendance will be able not only to enjoy the beautiful music performed, but also the courage shown by the two men and two women in not abandoning their passion to live out their dream, despite the difficult and even potentially dangerous circumstances they find themselves in at home.

The quartet line-up is:

Behnam – Guitar

Ala - Sitar

Anis – Flute

Mona – Cello

Tickets cost €10 on pre-sale, €15 on the night, and is free for those who hold a Kulturpass.
