Music:LX has announced several classical and jazz music performances to start 2017 in Luxembourg.

Among the first performances of the year are those of Cathy Krier, Pascal Schumacher and Christoph Sietzen.

Cathy Krier is set to start the year’s agenda with her performance of a classic repertoire featuring Mozart, Szymanowski, Lisztand Debussy on 29 January 2017 at the Verein der Musikfreunde Oldenburg. The event has been organised jointly by Musikfreunde Oldenburg and music:LX. Next month, the pianist will perform in the musical Opa und das Himmelsklavier on 18 and 19 February, 2017 at the Wiener Konzerthaus at the Berio Saal.

The classical and jazz music agenda for 2017 will also feature a performance by Luxembourgish percussionist Christoph Sietzen at the Concert for Percussion and Orchestra ‘Frozen in Time’ by Israeli composer Avner Dorman, with the Philharmonisches Orchester Bremerhaven, on 16, 17 and 18 January. Moreover, from 13 to 15 February 2017, the musician will join the Czech Chamber Philharmonic Orchestra Pardubice to perform Einojuhani Rautavaara’s ‘Incantations’ for Percussion and Orchestra.

Another key performance to begin the year will be that of Pascal Schumacher, who will perform a series of concerts with Jazz legend Kenny Barron, as part of a group of young musicians for the jazz project Here and Now. The first concert will take place at the Philharmonie de Luxembourg on 14 January 2017.
