The My Urban Piano project launched last Thursday in front of the Cercle building at the Place d'Armes with a performance by Charel Hoffmann playing works by Luxembourg pianist David Ianni, who inspired the initiative.

Luxembourg is one of twelve cities in which the composer will perform original works on public pianos to create a dedicated video. He performed in Luxembourg in April this year.

Twenty-one pianos decorated by the city’s schoolchildren, can be found in different locations around the city where they will stay until 18 June, free for the public to play on.

The closing ceremony for My Urban Piano will take place on Sunday June 18 at 15:00 on the Place de la Constitution where students from the Conservatoire de la Ville de Luxembourg will present a free performance under the direction of Gary Muller.

In the run up to the final concert, anyone who uploads a video of a micro-concert or animation around a piano that is tagged with the keywords #luxembourgcity and #myurbanpiano2017 can win an iPad. To take part, send the link to the video to: contest@vdl.lu, with the name of the person who filmed it, their address and telephone number.
