Under the direction of Luxembourg’s percussionist Jeanne Schmartz, Sonido Profundo will be back on Luxemburg’s stages for three concerts in June - Friday 5 June at the Kulturhaus Niederanven, on Friday 19 June at the Brasserie Soundcheck in Mertzig and on Sunday 21 June in Echternach during the Fête de la musique.

Sonido Profundo is unique and percussive! Some bands play salsa. Others play Brazilian samba. But Sonido Profundo offers a wide variety of South America’s most beautiful and swinging music, continually standing with one foot in tradition, and with the other one moving towards the future. This new band is the proof that tradition can be groovy and fresh.

Sonido Profundo is small, but sounds big and international. The different backgrounds and nationalities (Colombia, Germany and Luxembourg) of the musicians led to the creation of a multicultural band, that takes you on a long, sunny journey.

Sonido Profundo became known in Luxembourg for their arrangement of the tune “De scheine Poli” released on the compilation “Planet Letzebuerg reloaded” in 2010. Furthermore, in 2011, they landed a #1 hit in Colombia with their own arrangement of the song "Las caras lindas".
