Blues fans will be catered to at CAPE on Thursday 17 December 2015 with three world-class singers of the genre.

As part of Candle Night, the Centre des Arts Pluriels Ettelbruck (CAPE) will be celebrating 'Three Ladies of Blues', namely Joan Faulkner, Joanne and Harriet Lewis, who in turn will be honouring the greatest blues and gospel singers through the generations, including Bessie Smith, Billie Holiday and Diana Washington. Taking inspiration from these beloved figures of jazz, these American singers will be accompanied by the Gustav Csik Trio to deliver a vocal fireworks display of rhythm and blues, jazz and gospel, not forgetting the festive season with a hint of Christmas songs.

American singer Joan Faulkner has been living in Europe for many years. Joan was named 'Best Voice' in Germany in 1989 and is equally at ease performing blues, gospel, jazz and funk.

Having received her singing debut in a church choir led by her father, Joanne Bell is practiced in all facets of vocal art. With a voice that manages to be warm, powerful and sensual at the same time and a strong stage presence, Joanne Bell captivates her audience.

Originally from the East Coast of the United States, Harriet Lewis left her military career to pursue her artistic dreams in Germany. At age 12, she was already singing as a soloist in the gospel choir of her Baptist community. Her talents saw her later record several studio songs with artists such as Patty Labelle, Harols Melvin & The Blue Notes and The Four Tops. She has now released 14 CDs and shared the stage with stars such as Eric Clapton, Joe Cocker, Mariah Carey, Ray Charles, Grace Jones, BB King and Michale Jackson.

Gustav Csik began his jazz career at the age of 16 in his home country of Hungary. Having studied at the Conservatoire Budapest, he began teaching there ten years ago. Gustav Csik has joined big names of the jazz genre such as Dizzy Gillespie, Eddie Davis, Jimmy Woody, Ed Thigpen, Johnny Griffin, and Bobby Durham both on stage and in the studio.

Concert tickets cost €31 at standard rate and €15.50 for <26 years. Tickets can be purchased by calling 2681 2681 between 13:00 and 18:00 Monday to Friday, or by visiting www.cape.lu. The show will begin at 20:00.
