Luxembourgish band Jitz Jeitz Quartet will perform alongside Georges Soyka and Marc Scholten at the Mierscher Kulturhaus on Saturday 25 March 2017, starting at 20:00.

For his latest CD “Dizzy Guttido”, Jitz Jeitz invited Dutch artist Marc Scholten to participate in two tracks of the disc. For this concert in Mersch, they will develop a program designed for a jazz ensemble with three blowers by arranging their compositions for this training jjQ + 2.

Marc Scholten and Jitz Jeitz met in 2003 during their participation at the Euroradio BigBand in Istanbul. Marc Scholten occupies the alto lead saxophone lead from the Metroplole Orchestra in the Netherlands. Meanwhile, Jitz Jeitz studied in Luxembourg, Strasbourg and Liege, and has been performing since the eighties with almost all the local heroes of the country and the Greater Region.

In 2009, Jitz Jeitz formed his current quartet, with his personal, binary and ternary compositions, as well as pop and even jazzed classics, with an unmapped acoustic sound (unplugged in contemporary musicological patois), in the tradition of a classical jazz quartet.

Fellow Luxembourger, Georges Soyka, will also perform at this event. After his secondary studies at the Athenaeum of Luxembourg, George studied classical trumpet at the Karlsruhe Conservatory. During his six years in Karlsruhe he gained experience in classical orchestras, jazz bands (Thomas Jehle Quartett, the Blue Note Mobile Quintet) and in big bands (Hip Herd, Laut & Teuer Jazz Orchestra Karlsruhe).

Tickets cost €20 or €9 concession and can be purchased online at luxembourgticket.lu or via tel.: 352 47 08 95 1.
