Thursday evening saw a mix of Scottish and Luxembourgish musical talent on stage in a very entertaioning evening at the Purple Lounge at Casino2000 in Mondorf-les-Bains.

GoByBrooks started off the musical entertainment with some melancholic numbers including their second single, Dancing with the Devil, released this April, with Laetitia Koener's distinctive vocals leading the way. With fellow band members bassist Sacha, percussionist Gilles and Jérôme on the keyboards, as well as Laetitia on acoustic guitar, their unique sound is mesmerising, and even the more so when watching them live as they effortlessly get the best sounds from their instruments to merge with the lyrics.

With a seamless increase in tempo they had the audience hanging on every chord. GoByBrooks is certainly one to watch for on the Luxembourg music scene!

Little Eye from Glasgow in Scotland then took to the stage; as soon as they started into their first song it was instantly clear why GoByBrooks has been chosen as support, with their similar pop-rock styles. Like the warm-up, Little Eye started softly with the tempo of their songs increasing as the percussion increased in intensity and volume...

Singer/songwriter Allan showed he is a born leader with hypnotic vocals, with drummer Jay, guitarist Euan and bassist Marcus all contributing in equal measure to create a wonderful harmony that is a delight to which to listen. He (Allan) also unashamedly plugged their albums during the show, all the time developing a warm repartee with the audience. And he revealed that they are off to China to perform at the final of Miss World with host Nicole Sherzinger on 16 December.

No wonder they have been awarded the Young Scot Awards a couple of years ago! Many of their songs came off their album Fighting the Future; on the evidence of thsi evening they will not ahve much fighting to do!

What made the evening even more complete was being able to eat at the Purple Lounge beforehand; with great choice of traditional regional fare, and at very reasonable prices too! And the acoustics were great, enabling every note to be heard without straining st all. For those who ate there, they were able to remain at their tables, with extra seats laid out for those who paid just the €7 entrance fee, within easy reach of the bar!
