The ceremony of breaking the ground for the new buildings for the HMC League was attended by government ministers Bausch, Cahen and Schmit this Wednesday, 25 October 2016. They respctively represented Ministry of Sustainable Development and Infrastructure, the Ministry of Family and Integration, and the  Ministry of Labour, Employment and Social Economy and Solidarity.

HMC League has had its headquarters in Capellen since 1968, in the building called "Villa Bourg" which dates from the late nineteenth century. While the Villa includes the administration of HMC League, other activities are housed in various buildings in the villa gardens, which cover about 3 hectares. These 1970s annexes had become dilapidated over time and less and less adapted to current needs. It was decided to replace them with contemporary structures, energy efficient and answering specific needs.

Three new buildings located on the same site will now work better for 200 people with mental disabilities, 70 supervisors and many guests and visitors who will be on the HMC League's website at Capellen.

Meanwhile, the renovation of the Villa Bourg is essential, so that accessibility for people with reduced mobility is finally guaranteed, while preserving the cultural and historical heritage of the villa.

Minister Bausch noted that "the ambitious goal of planning is to integrate the new building into the existing park, chosen as outstanding green space by the Administration of Nature and Forests and the National Sites and Monuments Service".

Corinne Cahen underlined the importance of having an unlocked project after many years, which will allow better supervision of those who inhabit it.

Nicolas Schmit stressed the pioneering role of the HMC League in terms of inclusion, bringingof its members more into society.

The new facilities will be brought into servcie in late 2019 and the investment cost is €29,800,000.
