Following a decision taken by the Luxembourg Governing Council, the price of excise on tobacco products is set to rise.

The new Grand-Ducal regulation regarding tobacco products will increase the excise of cigarettes by 50 cents, that is from

€11.50 to €12 and the minimum excise duty from €113.95 to €116. The excise of fine-cut tobacco will also rise from €12.50/kg to €14/kg and the minimum excise duty from €43.95/kg to €47/kg.

These changes come as part of the implementation of recommendations from the Ministry of Health’s National Plan for the Fight against Smoking 2016-2020. The plan encompasses the regular increase of the price of tobacco products.
