The Luxembourg Department for the Environment has issued a warning, especially for cyclists, to take extra precautions during current high temperatures.

Medical advisers have warned that, in addition to the usual common sense precautions necessary in this period of high heat, and which essentially reduce or even prevent sports activity outside, it is important to keep an eye on air quality and, in particular, on the ozone levels.

The current values and forecasts can be found on the following website of the Luxembourg government: http://www.environnement.public.lu/air_bruit/dossiers/PA-reseaux_mesure_air/reseau_automatique/resultats_mesures_live/index.html

High ozone levels can irritate the respiratory tract and eyes during sporting activities. This rate tends to increase during the day and, paradoxically, is often higher in the countryside than in the city.
