The Organising Committee of the Russian Charity Ball in Luxembourg has presented SOS Villages d’Enfants Monde with a cheque for €25,000.

Following the 6th Russian Ball held on 14 January 2017 at the Cercle Cité, the Organising Committee of the Russian Charity Ball, represented by its President Nadejda Muller and the Russian Club of Luxembourg, represented by its President Vsevolod Yampolski, presented a cheque for €25,000 to Sophie Glesener, Director of SOS Villages d'Enfants Monde.

The handing over of the cheque to the SOS Family Support Centre in Pskov, a social home for mothers and children, was carried out at the Russian Embassy in Luxembourg in the presence of His Excellency Viktor Sorokin and Deputy Prime Minister Etienne Schneider.

Placed under their high patronage and that of Bourgmestre Madame Lydie Polfer, the ball was a great success, bringing together many personalities during a gastronomic evening orchestrated by Renato Favaro in partnership with the caterer Kaempff-Kohler.

The event raised €50,000 euros shared equally between the Russian foundation Podsolnukh-Tournesol committed to children suffering from autoimmune diseases and SOS, who are working in Russia for the protection of vulnerable children. For six years, the organisers have raised €280,000 for these two NGOs.

The funds collected this year were generated thanks to sponsors, partners and the public who attended the Russian Ball, but also due to other activities such as the concert of the Forte Trio of Kazakhstan at the Philharmonie.
