Renato Favaro, president of Euro-Toques, and chefs Patrick Junker and Etienne-Jean Labarrère-Claverie have donated €1,960 to SOS Villages d'Enfants Monde in support of projects in Mali.

The funds, gathered by the famous chefs during their last gala dinner, will go towards the Bamako community support program in Mali.

In April 2016, the Euro-Toques organised their gala dinner at the Hotel-Restaurant Dahm in Erpeldange in the Luxembourg Ardennes, a great opportunity for them to revisit the local cuisine and to showcase the regional culinary heritage as Defends this renowned gastronomic association. This prestigious event, the last one organised under the presidency of Daniel Rameau and in the presence of Renato Favaro who was to take up the torch shortly after, brought together many personalities and, once again, associated SOS Villages d'Enfants Monde.

The Bamako community support programme targets 1,230 children and 255 families from the districts of Sabalibougou and Sébénicoro in the outskirts of the Malian capital and supports the community dynamics in favour of the protection of children and respect for their rights. While direct support has ceased, the emphasis is now on training and the creation of child protection structures, with four protection committees and 20 children's clubs, and income generating activities.

Sophie Glesener thanked Renato Favaro and the prestigious heads of Euro-Toques for their generous gesture.

"On this International Family Day, talking about this community mobilisation project in Bamako takes on its full meaning and reminds us of the essential role of every member of the family and community in the education of children. With its 30 years of experience, our partner SOS in Mali is convincingly pursuing its work of accompanying communities to ensure that children can fully live their childhood and build a promising future", she said.
